I'm a huge fan of date nights, but I also know that Valentine's Day tends to be one of the more expensive nights of the year to go out. And since most couples try to go out on Valentine's Days, finding a babysitter can sometimes be next to impossible if you don't book them 6 months in advance!
Here's my suggestion for you…instead of going out as a couple ON Valentine's Day, spend the day as a family and go out later as a couple! Here are some fun things to do on Valentine's Day!

1. Decorate Your House
In the days leading up to Valentine's Day, consider spending some time decorating as a family. If you have young kids who enjoy crafts, there are so many fun things you can do. You can help them make hearts out of paper or clay, or come up with new ideas to help set the mood for the day. If you have older kids, this DIY Valentine's Day Wreath is super fun to make!
2. Valentine's Day Breakfast

You could make your family's favorite meal. My family loves Mexican food, so for special occasions, I go all out. I make chicken fajitas with homemade tortillas, Mexican street corn, rice and beans and homemade queso.
Another way to make dinner special is creating and cooking only heart-shaped foods! You could do heart shaped burgers, heart shaped pizzas or heart-shaped biscuits.
Another idea is to make a meal entirely out of pink, red and white foods. If you need a little help, you can use food coloring to transform them.
When the meal's over, have fun eating some of your baked goods and spending more time together playing games or watching a movie as a family. If you have little kids, opt for a movie like Beauty and the Beast or Lady & the Tramp. If you have teenagers, you may want to watch one of these romantic movies!
