Tools You Might Need To Make Christmas Tree Brownie Bites
- Mini Muffin Tin (It's helpful if you have 2 of these)
- Small bowls
- Measuring spoon
- Piping bag
- Microwave-safe bowl
Christmas Tree Brownie Bites Ingredients:
- 1 boxed brownie mix – I used a 9×13 size mix
- 1 cup white melted chocolate {You can use chocolate chips or chocolate melts}
- 1 container green frosting – or vanilla colored to your desired shade
- Sprinkles – any kind of Christmas sprinkles will do
How To Make Christmas Tree Brownie Bites:
The first thing you need to do is to preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
Next, you'll want to get out a large bowl and make the brownie batter according to the box instructions.
After that, you will prepare two mini-muffin tins and spoon in brownie batter. Fill each well about halfway full.
You will want to bake brownies according to the baking time on the box {or approximately 12 minutes if it doesn't give you a time for mini muffin pans) or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Once your brownies are finished baking, remove the brownies from the oven and use the bottom of a teaspoon to create an indent in each of the brownies. You just need a little bit of pressure to make this indentation. You'll want to do this while the brownies are still warm for the best results.
Allow brownies to cool and remove them from the pan. If you have a wire cooling rack that will work the best, but a plate will do the job.
Using a microwave-safe small bowl, add white chocolate chips or your melting wafers and heat in 30-second increments, stirring in between until chocolate is fully melted.
You are going to dip the brownies topside down into the chocolate and then immediately add your sprinkles. You can get creative with all kinds of designs. Have the kids help decorate these Christmas Trees.
Using a piping bag (or any plastic bag like a Ziplock bag works), pipe the Christmas tree shapes onto the brownies. If your frosting is not holding its shape well, pop it into the refrigerator for about 10 minutes to allow it to set up some and it will hold a tree shape better once piped.
Decorate with mini candies and additional sprinkles and enjoy!
Frequently Asked Questions
What type of brownie mix works best for these?
My favorite boxed mix is Ghirardelli Triple Chocolate Brownie Mix but my grocery store has been out of it lately. You can really use any box brownie mix to make these fun treats. You can use your favorite brownie recipe, use a box, or even grab some brownies bites from your local grocery store bakery.
Just make sure you're brownies aren't too cakey as they'll fall apart. You'll get much better results with fudgy brownies.
How can I store the Brownie Bites?
You can store these easy Christmas brownies for 3-4 days in an airtight container. Make sure to get a deep container to store your Christmas Tree Brownie Bites. You don't want to smush the frosting trees when you put the lid on.
Do I have to use white chocolate?
Of course not! You can use any kind of chocolate you just want to create a firm base for your frosting trees.
What if I can't find green frosting?
Finding green frosting isn't easy {and if you do find it, it probably won't be as good as some of the other non-colored frostings out there}. No worries though…you can tint frosting using a few drops of green food coloring. You can use green gel food color for a more vivid green color.
What type of frosting works best for this?
My favorite frostings are cream cheese frosting or buttercream frosting. And it doesn't make much difference if you use store bought or homemade…although if you make a homemade buttercream frosting or cream cheese frosting, you can change up the consistency to make them nice and thick.
Do I have to use sprinkles?
Nope, while sprinkles make great decorations, there are plenty of other great things you can use to decorate this Christmas brownies recipe. I think candy canes that are crushed make great ornaments. You could also use a yellow m&m to make a star for the top of the tree.
