FAQs {Frequently Asked Questions}
Can you make this Rudolph Christmas Cheese Ball in advance?
While you can add the antlers, eyes, and nose ahead of time, it may change the texture of them. Since you're using a pre-made cheeseball and it takes less than 5 minutes to put together, I would just add the eyes, nose and antlers right before serving.
Can I use a homemade cheeseball instead of a store-bought cheeseball?
Yes, absolutely! I love homemade cheese balls but during this busy time of year, I like to give you lots of easy options and using a storebought cheese ball is the easy way to do this.
But you can totally whip up a homemade cheese ball if you have the time and inclination. This classic cheese ball recipe is one of my favorite recipes because it's made with simple ingredients.
You just need cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese (you can use sharp cheddar cheese, mild cheddar cheese, or a combination), bacon bits, pecans, green onions, milk, everything bagel seasoning (or sometimes I opt for ranch seasoning instead), onion powder and garlic powder.
It's an easy recipe, so if you're looking to make your own holiday cheeseball, you totally can.
Do I have to use a jellybean for the nose?
Nope. Feel free to use another type of red candy or you can even use a cherry tomato.
What's the best way to store this Christmas cheese ball?
The best way to keep your cheese ball fresh is to store it in the refrigerator. You'll want to wrap it in a sheet of plastic wrap and place it in an airtight container before putting it in the fridge. It will stay good for up to two weeks if you don't eat it all before then!
What goes well with this Christmas cheeseball recipe?
While crackers are always a safe bet, they're really just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to what you can serve with cheese balls. Some of our faves are pretzel sticks, veggies like celery sticks and baby carrot pieces, pita bread, apples, and pears.
Are cheese balls healthy?
Although cheese balls have a poor reputation as healthy party snacks, they really contain some protein from the nuts and calcium from the cheese.
