We’ve all been stuck at home for a while and I’ve given you printables to help you survive being stuck at home, coloring pages and indoor activities for kids to keep your kiddos entertained, and lots of yummy recipes. Today, I thought I’d bring you some roots cover-up tips to help you look your best until you can get back in the salon.
These tips for hiding your roots between salon visits will also help you save money once we’re not stuck at home anymore.
I’m a huge fan of coloring my hair. And if you’ve been following me for long, you know it’s been a lot of different colors over the years.
Hair dye allows us to embrace the color we’ve always wanted. It even allows us to try something new and daring.
The only problem is that coloring your hair can get expensive and it doesn’t take long before those dreaded roots start to show. When our family started making changes to our finances, I wasn’t willing to give up coloring my hair.
I decided my best bet was to cut back on the frequency of my visits to the salon. came up with some different ways to cover up my roots or to make them less noticeable.
Since we’re all stuck at home and unable to visit the salon, I figured these tips might be helpful. And they may keep you from doing something drastic like trying to dye your hair yourself with store-bought hair dye.
Roots Cover Up Tips
Here are some of my best tips for covering your roots…without being forced to put a bag on your head!
1. Wear Headbands
A wide headband is a cute way to hide your roots between dye jobs. The best part is you’ll look super cute and no one will realize that you’re all about covering your roots.
Try keeping several different headbands on hand so that you have different looks for different outfits.
This is my favorite place to buy headbands and I have a bunch!
2. Change the Part of Your Hair
Another easy thing you can do is to simply change the way you part your hair. If your hair naturally parts down the center, try brushing your hair over and to the side to hide the roots.
If you regularly part your hair on the side, try parting it in the center or doing a zigzag part instead.
People will simply think you’re trying a new style.
3. Use a Color Powder
You can find color powders in most drugstores that will hide your roots. You want to make sure to match your color as closely as possible. You also want to follow the directions carefully so that you don’t end up with a messy scalp. One last tip. Don’t wear this on a rainy day.
4. Cover the Area with a Spray
If you don’t want to use the powder, use a spray. There are some really good sprays on the market that will allow you to cover your roots in a matter of seconds. Again, you want to be careful so that you don’t end up with a lot of dye on your scalp.
5. Make a Fashion Statement
Last, but not least, embrace a fun fashion statement. Find a fun hat and use that to cover your roots. Again, people will just think you’re being fashion forward instead of trying to hide your roots.
These tips are perfect for covering your roots on all of those Zoom calls and Facetime meetings. Best of all, you’ll look super cute in the process!
