Disclosure: I received Peeps products in order to facilitate this post. There were a few other Peeps products included, but unfortunately, Peeps are my weakness and they didn't live long enough to see this photo. All Peeps products, information, and additional gift pack have been provided by PEEPS® and PEEPS & COMPANY®. As always, my thoughts and opinions are my own.
When Peeps asked if they could send my products for the holiday, I jumped at the chance. Quite honestly, Peeps are one of my favorite guilty pleasures. Every year around Christmas, I buy wrapping paper and a bunch of Peeps and then I put on one of my favorite Christmas movies and I wrap presents and eat Peeps. And while that has happened year after year at our house, I figured you probably didn't want to read a blog post all about me wrapping presents and eating Peeps. {I really sound pathetic.}
Anyhoo…when I got this wonderful package in the mail, it got me thinking about how I could incorporate Peeps into our holidays. And so I decided to plan some themed family movie nights.
This is the time of year where we're crazy busy and one of the most important things we can do is to connect as a family. My mind immediately started thinking of all the movies that I could come up with that would go with the Peeps.
I immediately picked up the new Minions movie. I still haven't watched it and am so excited to watch it with the family.
Next I picked up Oh Christmas Tree. It looks like the type of cheesy Christmas movie I love! 🙂
I was limited on what I could find at Walmart, so I headed over to Amazon to see what they had to go with my Peeps!
Here are the other pairings I'm planning:
I decided to pair the gingerbread men with the movie Shrek…and if this happens on a Saturday, we may just have a Shrek marathon. I still haven't watched Shrek the Third in English. I watched it multiple times while were in Ukraine adopting our oldest 2 daughters, but the movie was in Russian. Since I'm not fluent in Russian, I only have a vague idea of what happened during that movie. I keep telling myself that I'll watch it someday soon, but it's been over 8 years and I still haven't gotten around to it.
I'll be pairing the snowman lollipop with the Frosty the Snowman. In the spirit of full disclosure, I should probably tell you that there was a fabulous large Peeps Snowman in the package that Peeps sent me, but I ate it…and it was absolutely delicious. I figured I could replace it and no one would ever know, but our Walmart was sold out! 🙁
I'll be pairing the Candy Cane Peeps with The Legend of the Candy Cane: The Inspirational Story of Our Favorite Christmas Candy. This is such a great story and tells the true meaning of Christmas.
I'm planning on watching Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer while eating the chocolate mousse flavored reindeer Peeps. I've shown a lot of restraint in not eating them already!
There are so many other great movies I could have chosen, but since there's not a whole lot of time before Christmas and our schedule is crazy, getting 6 family movies in is going to be a challenge.
