And if the temperatures are ridiculously high where you are (like they are here), you’ll probably be showing even more skin in the upcoming days. If you want your skin to be as beautiful as possible, you don’t have to reach for makeup. There are so many simple things you can do that will make your skin gorgeous. Whether you drink more water or keep your skin smooth, you’ll love showing off your skin this summer.
1. Drink Plenty of Water
First things first. The easiest thing you can do for gorgeous skin is to drink plenty of water. A great rule of thumb is to take your body weight and divide it by two. This will tell you how many ounces of water you need each day. For example, if you weigh 150 pounds, you need 75 ounces of water each day. If you’re in the heat for extended periods of time, you’ll want to drink more water to account for water lost through perspiration.
2. Wear Sunscreen
You want to wear sunscreen not only to protect yourself from skin cancer, but sun exposure can also cause the skin condition melasma. This condition causes grayish-brown patches of skin to appear along the nose, cheeks, chin, and forehead. To avoid this condition, apply sunscreen every two hours. This will help keep your skin beautiful throughout the summer months. I prefer mineral sunscreens as they have fewer yucky products in them! 🙂
3. Keep Your Skin Smooth
Warm weather is here and it’s time to start maintaining your legs. Shaving your legs is actually the best method because waxing can cause more damage to the skin and is more apt to cause ingrown hairs. When shaving, you want to choose a good quality razor and use a shaving cream or gel that has added moisturizers. Applying lotion once you dry off can also help keep your legs looking gorgeous. I swear by this lotion!
4. Apply Moisturizers
Moisturizers are a must. You can find facial cleansers that have moisturizers and body creams are wonderful for applying before bed. I didn’t start using moisturizer regularly until 2 years ago, but now I’m a skin-care junkie. Whether it’s body wash or shave gel, choose products that will keep your skin moist.
5. Eat a Healthy Diet
Last, but not least, you want to eat a healthy diet. A diet loaded with fruits and vegetables is important for beautiful summer skin. Best of all, summer is the perfect time to eat more fruits and vegetables because so many delicious varieties are in season. If you don’t like fruits and vegetables, make juices and smoothies.
You don’t have to do special treatments or spend a lot of money. You can have beautiful summer skin by simply taking better care of yourself and using the right products.
