Homemade Honey Mustard Ingredients

To make homemade honey mustard, you'll need the following ingredients:
- 1/3 Cup Honey (The beekeeper that is taking care of our bees in our yard brought us this honey and it's sooooo good!)
- 1/3 Cup Dijon Mustard (you can use regular yellow mustard, but it won't be as good)
- 1/3 Cup Mayonnaise (I would use mayo and not Miracle Whip or some other salad dressing)
- 1 Tbsp Lemon Juice (or you could use vinegar)
- 1/4 tsp. Cayenne Pepper
Frequently Asked Questions
I HATE mayo! Is there something I can use instead?
If you hate mayo, but tolerate Miracle Whip, you can use that instead. My guess is that if you hate mayo, you probably hate Miracle Whip too. If that's the case, you can use greek yogurt or sour cream in place of the mayo. You could even use plain yogurt if you're in a pinch and your honey mustard craving needs to be satisfied immediately.
What kind of vinegar can I use instead of lemon juice?
I would use distilled white vinegar, but you could try white wine vinegar or apple cider vinegar (although the apple cider vinegar flavor may be overpowering).
Is there a particular type of honey you recommend using for this honey mustard sauce recipe?
You can use organic honey, regular store-bought honey, or even raw honey right from your own yard!
I don't have honey? Can I use sugar instead?
I don't recommend using white sugar in this recipe. You could probably use brown sugar as far as flavor is concerned, but you'd lose the creamy texture. My first choice as a honey substitute would be maple syrup.
What can I dip in this easy honey mustard recipe?
Chicken strips, chicken fingers, chicken wings, and fries are my daughter's favorites. We also think think this perfect dipping sauce is amazing for pretzel bites and fresh veggies.
How else can I use this delicious honey mustard?
You can use this it as a glaze on a chicken breasts or salmon. You can also use it as a sandwich spread. It tastes amazing on chicken wraps.
I know someone who mixes this into their chicken salad in place of mayo. You can even use it as a honey mustard salad dressing.
How do I store this honey mustard dip?
You'll want to store it in an airtight container. Small mason jars or cute jelly jars are perfect for both serving and storing this creamy sauce.
