If you've been hanging around my blog for any length of time, you've probably figured out that I love homemade beauty products and scrubs. And this DIY Lemon Sugar Scrub is absolutely amazing!!!
I have horribly dry skin that is also sensitive so I have to be careful what goes on my skin. I have found that creating my own beauty products with essential oils has been a game changer. My skin looks better, feels softer and doesn't have all those horrendous reactions to the chemicals in other products.
I love using a homemade foot scrub to remove dead skin. {ugh…just typing that grosses me out} While you can use the other scrub recipes on your feet, this Honey Lemon Sugar Scrub seems to really do the trick! I also make an amazing cracked heel balm which is the perfect finishing touch after you use this at home foot scrub.
Here's what you'll need to whip up this DIY Lemon Sugar Scrub
- 1 cup Epsom salt
- 8-10 drops Young Living Lemon essential oil
- 1 cup sugar – use organic cane sugar, brown sugar, or regular granulated
- 2 Tbsp raw honey
- 1 cup coconut oil (melt it down into a liquid form)
Here's what you'll need to do:
- In a medium sized glass bowl add Epsom salt and sugar to a bowl and combine fully.
- Slowly begin stirring in the coconut oil until mixture is smooth, but not goopy. {You may not need to use the full cup of oil.}
- Add the honey and stir well.
- Mix in the essential oil.
- Store in an air tight jar.
While I originally created this for my feet, I've discovered this also makes an amazing homemade body scrub! It leaves my skin feeling soooo soft and smooth. Just be careful if you will be going out into the sun (or to a tanning bed) in the next 24 hours as citrus oils (or citrus itself) can cause an adverse reaction on the skin. 🙂
Enjoy!
