We all have things that we’re willing to spend money on. Some people spend their money on Starbucks, some people spend their money on eating out, I tend to spend my money on shoes.
I have a serious shoe obsession! And while there are all kinds of styles that I love, I’ve had to resign myself to only wearing shoes that are comfortable. I used to make my decisions based solely on looks. I looked for shoes in fun and funky colors. I looked for shoes that made my legs look longer. I never thought much about comfort. Don’t get me wrong. I didn’t wear shoes that pinched my feet, but I never picked out shoes that I could wear for hours on end.
I’m not sure whether my issues are age related or lupus related, but now I have to be so careful about shoes. I used to be able to buy whatever cute shoes I found in size 11 or 12 (easier said than done), but now I’m always on the lookout for deals on Born shoes or Cole Haans. I have to buy good shoes. And while it’s sometimes tricky to find shoes that are comfortable and cute, it’s not impossible! There are brands that make it super easy.
While there are a few things I’m willing to splurge on, shoes are one of the main things I’m willing to pay more money for. I spend a lot of time running around and there’s nothing worse than having sore feet (or sore hips or sore knees). I’m convinced that the money I pay to buy good shoes ends up saving me money in chiropractic bills.
I’d love to hear from you. What’s your “thing”?
