Looking for the best things to buy after Christmas? I thought I’d share some of my favorites with you!
The days after Christmas are some of my favorite days to shop! I can always find great deals and I usually get a few gift cards and some cash for Christmas and so I can be a little more frivolous than usual without putting a dent in my budget!
Even if you’re a non-shopper, you may want to brave the stores (or the internet) for some super deals!
Best Things To Buy After Christmas
Christmas Candy
Now is the time to snag candy for a fraction of the price. Inexpensive bags of chocolate, chocolate bars, and chocolate Santas can be used in place of chocolate chips for baking.
Also, I try to stock up on Hershey’s Kisses to be used for Valentine’s and St. Patrick’s day. I use red and gold kisses for Valentine’s day and I use green kisses for St. Patrick’s day. It sure beats paying full price in February!
This only works if you can find a good hiding place. Last year I thought I found a good hiding place, but when I went to use the kisses for Valentine’s day, I discovered that my husband had already eaten all of them!
Wrapping Paper
Christmas wrapping paper isn’t just for Christmas! You can find solid and foiled red, gold, silver, green, and white paper that can be used throughout the year.
Also, look for pastel-colored paper with snowflakes to be used on gifts given during the wintry months.
Gift Sets
I love holiday gift sets. Many of these get marked down to a fraction of the price because the packaging is Chistmas-y. I’ve often purchased gift sets made up of lotions and body washes at 50-80% off just because of the wrapping.
What’s even better is that these gift sets can be dismantled and the individual bottles of lotions can be put in other gifts throughout the year. I often turn these gift sets into birthday gifts or thinking of you gifts!
There are often great gift sets full of razors that end up being a fraction of what you’d regularly
Baking supplies and cookware
After Christmas is a great time to purchase cookware and baking supplies. In the past few years, I have found pots and pans, coffee makers, cupcake makers, roasters and cookie sheets all marked at 50% off (or more) at Wal-Mart.
I’m not sure why they choose to mark so many of these items down in their “holiday” section, but I definitely won’t complain. If you need pots and pans, waffle irons, tea kettles, etc., make sure to take a look at the holiday markdowns.
Christmas decorations and lights
Most of my Christmas decorations and lights have been purchased after Christmas. Each year, I try to add a few piece ornaments to my collection. I love that I can buy 3 or 4 ornaments for the price I would usually pay for 1.
This is also a great time to buy an artificial tree to use next year. Also, if you are planning a wedding or party in which you may want to use white lights, stock up now. You’ll be able to find them and the price on them will be unbeatable!
Candles
If you love candles, this can be the best time to stock up. Candles are often included in the post-Christmas sales…and not just the red and green ones. I am always amazed at how many white candles in a variety of scents get marked down to a fraction of their normal price!
I hope this will give you a few ideas to help make the most of after Christmas sales. Please remember that it’s never a good deal if you don’t have the money to pay for it.
It’s easy to get caught up in the thrill of a bargain, but it’s not worth the stress that it brings when you realize you have no money and no place to store all your “bargains”.
Color Street Nail Strips
Color Street just announced that through 12/28/2020, they’re offering Buy 3, Get 2 Free this weekend. It’s a great way to get even more bang for your buck! There are so many great shades to choose from!

I would enjoy getting your savings email. Thanks
Sounds like a great time to buy some stuff during low pricing in this period. In every year i spent some money in these days for using later on. Great tips for moms like me. Thanks
Great things to buy even after christmas thanks dear.
I never thought about getting the gift sets. Breaking them up and just using what’s in them is very clever.
I bought some wrapping paper and tags today. I also like to pick up Christmas cards during the after Christmas sales. Good tips.
I really need to check out my local Walmart’s baking section when I head there tomorrow. I never thought to check there.
Thank you for this! I LOVE After Christmas shopping!
I always buy next years wrapping paper after Christmas and this year I also bought new led Christmas lights after Christmas. I was surprised that alot of the stores were wiped out from before Christmas so there wasn’t much of a selection.
These are all good tips, and I’m getting a chuckle out of the chocolate kisses. If they disappeared around here before being able to use them in baking, the culprit would probably be me…..
I hit a few places after the holidays. I got some candy and wrapping paper for a great price!
Enjoy saving money when I can. I look for gifts and items for different holidays and birthdays all year long.
