It’s no secret that I love creating printables. I even have a whole store of printables. When I showed my husband the daily planner printable I made last week, he immediately complained that it was too girly. I explained that most of my readers were women who would appreciate something that was feminine. He quickly shot back that most of those women were probably like me and that they would probably try to get their husband to schedule their days better. 🙂 He had a point. OK…even if he didn’t have a point, I’ve been trying to get him to do a better job with scheduling his days and so if creating a free daily planner printable that was “non-girly” would help him, I’d be happy to do just that!
I quickly jumped online and created a free daily planner printable just for him…and for you guys as well. And I actually really like this one. I was able to get an extra hour of time on this one, so those of you who stay up to 10 are in luck with this printable. I’ll be honest, I rarely am awake past 9 pm, but I like the option. It makes me feel like I’m living on the edge. {And now I sound like I’m 100 years old.}
Tips for Using Your Free Daily Planner Printable
If you’re wondering how to make the most out of your printable, I thought I’d share what works for me.
Keep a Daily To-Do List Going
I have a daily planner in which I write down everything I need to get done on a particular day. Whenever something comes up, I immediately add it to my planner for the appropriate day. Each night, before I go to bed, I go through my planner and look at everything I need to accomplish the next day, then I add it to my free daily planner printable.
Use an Erasable Pen
I am a complete and total pen snob. I used to only use Papermate Flair Pens in fun colors like pink, purple, and lime green. Don’t get me wrong…I still love these. They’re perfect for using in a planner or on a printable…but I’ve discovered a new favorite pen and it’s changed my life. Someone told me about Frixion Pens a few months ago and they literally have changed my life. I prefer the retractable ones in bright colors. They write like a dream and erase like a pencil! They are seriously amazing!
Schedule an empty block or two.
No two days are alike…unless it’s Groundhog Day. In all seriousness, every day comes with unexpected moments and things you didn’t plan for. If you leave a few empty half hour blocks, it will allow you to recover from unexpected delays and setbacks. It will also allow you to make time for things you forgot to include (like making and eating lunch). 🙂
Give yourself grace!
Figuring out how to schedule your day takes time…and some trial and error. I’ve definitely seen an increase in my productivity since I started scheduling my days, but I’ve also realized I had some unrealistic expectations. Using a daily schedule has allowed me to realize that certain projects take far longer than I expected…and others take far less time than I expected. Last Monday, I assigned a task 2 half hour blocks. I even wondered if I should have given it 3 blocks. It was a task I’d been putting off for over a week. When I actually did the task, it only took 15 minutes. I was shocked!
I hope you find this printable super helpful! If you have tips for how you use this free daily planner printable, I’d love for you to leave a comment.
